NCR Weather Update: Severe Heatwave Grips Delhi-NCR as Temperatures Near 46°C
Delhi Weather Today: Delhi-NCR remains extremely hot as a severe heatwave grips it. Areas including Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram and Dadri have witnessed extreme summer conditions with daytime temperatures nearing 46°C in several areas. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued orange alerts for multiple districts and has warned the residents of dangerous conditions over the coming few days.
According to weather forecasts, there have been dry northwesterly winds and clear skies which are contributing to the rapid increase in temperatures. The scorching sun and low moisture levels are making outdoor conditions extremely uncomfortable especially for afternoon hours.
At the same time, air quality in parts of NCR have also worsened due to high levels of pollution and dust. The combination of heat and poor air quality is becoming a nightmare for the residents and is creating high discomfort amongst them.
The extreme heat has also triggered widespread complaints of power outages across Noida and Greater Noida. Gautam Budh Nagar recorded a temperature of 42.5 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, with many residents reporting repeated electricity disruptions, especially during nighttime.
However, there is some bad news too. The temperatures are still likely to remain high in spite of the brief rain activity. Experts have warned residents to stay cautious, drink plenty of water, and avoid direct sunlight especially during the afternoon hours from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Warm Nights Adding to Public Discomfort
Apart from the intense daytime heat, the NCR residents are also in trouble as nights are expected to be very warm. Meteorologists also recorded that Delhi had one of its hottest May nights in years. Now, due to the weather being hot even after daytime, the Delhi-NCR residents are getting little relief from the heat and this has increased the chances of heatstroke amongst them.Power Demand Reaches High Levels
The extreme weather has also increased electricity consumption across NCR to a new extent. People are relying heavily on the usage of air conditioners and coolers to combat this heatAt the same time, air quality in parts of NCR have also worsened due to high levels of pollution and dust. Relief Likely Later Next Week
While the heatwave is expected to continue for the next few days, meteorologists have predicted that there will be some relief towards the end of next week. Isolated thunderstorms and light rainfall may come around May 28–30 in parts of Delhi-NCR.However, there is some bad news too.
