ED arrests Chhattisgarh Congress leader Ramgopal Agrawal in alleged liquor scam case
NEW DELHI: The Enforcement Directorate on Tuesday arrested Chhattisgarh Congress leader Ramgopal Agrawal under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act ( PMLA ) in connection with its probe into the alleged state liquor scam, officials said.
The arrest comes amid an ongoing ED investigation into alleged money laundering linked to the liquor trade in Chhattisgarh.
The agency has alleged that a liquor syndicate manipulated the state's excise system between 2019 and 2023, generating proceeds of crime exceeding Rs 2,883 crore, according to its latest disclosures.
