“Have you also received an SMS from India Post stating that your package has arrived at the warehouse, further asking you to update your address details within 48 hours to avoid the package being returned?” says the PIB post. It then confirms that this message is fake and that India Post has not issued any such messages.

The SMS includes a link for updating contact details for the delivery. The most significant red flag about this message is the attached link, which reads as indiapos.gvs.top/IN. Most government agencies use the .gov.in URL for their websites, and the legitimate India Post URL follows this format. Always cross-check these links online before clicking, as they could grant access to your device or account to malicious actors.
