On June 1, commercial cylinder prices were increased significantly, and on June 5, a further rise of around ₹42 was recorded in many regions. Domestic LPG cylinders, however, have stayed stable since March, offering some comfort to regular consumers despite broader fuel cost fluctuations.

At present, a 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder costs between ₹910.50 and ₹1,002.50 across major Indian cities.

Small Cylinder Price Also Increased

Why LPG Prices Keep Changing

LPG prices in India are influenced by several global and domestic factors:
  • Dependence on Imports: India imports nearly 60% of its LPG requirement, so global crude oil and gas price movements have a direct impact on local rates.
  • Currency Fluctuations: Changes in the rupee-dollar exchange rate also affect import costs.
  • State Charges: Differences in VAT, taxes, and transportation costs lead to varying prices across cities.

While domestic users have avoided price hikes for now, rising commercial LPG rates and small cylinder increases highlight how sensitive fuel pricing remains to global market conditions.
