PM Modi Birthday: Seva Sankalp Bike Yatra to Connect Varanasi and Vadnagar
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 76th birthday on September 17, 2026, is being marked by several programmes across the country. Among them is the Seva Sankalp Bike Yatra , a large-scale motorcycle campaign connecting Vadnagar in Gujarat, where Modi was born, with Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, his parliamentary constituency.
The initiative is being organised as part of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Seva Sankalp Abhiyan , which commemorates 25 years of Modi’s public life. The twin bike journeys will begin simultaneously from Vadnagar and Varanasi and will include public outreach and community-service activities along the way.
In Varanasi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath are expected to launch the journey towards Vadnagar. Other political leaders are also scheduled to attend the event in the Uttar Pradesh city.
The twin routes are intended to symbolically connect Modi’s birthplace with his current parliamentary constituency.
The journey will pass through 10 states, 193 districts, 773 tehsils and around 1,159 villages. Together, the two routes are expected to cover nearly 40,000 kilometres.
The campaign has been planned as more than a long-distance motorcycle ride. Organisers have linked it to youth participation, public interaction and activities focused on social welfare and community engagement.
The motorcycle model has attracted attention because of its widespread use in India and its association with everyday commuting. However, the primary focus of the event is the campaign’s route and public-service activities rather than the motorcycles themselves.
Participants will also take a pledge to care for 25 trees each day. The campaign is expected to include interactions with beneficiaries of government welfare schemes, women involved in community initiatives and young people working on local development projects.
The activities are intended to connect the bike journey with broader themes of civic participation and community service.
Four sub-journeys began from Somnath, Shamlaji, Pavagadh and Unai Mataji in Gujarat on September 13. Water collected from rivers, ponds and other local sources is being transported as part of the programme.
The collected water is expected to be used for Jalabhishek at the Hatkeshwar Mahadev Temple in Vadnagar and the Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi. The initiative is intended to create a symbolic connection between Modi’s birthplace and his parliamentary constituency.
Police teams are also expected to accompany the convoy to help manage traffic and maintain security during the journey.
The bike campaign is scheduled to conclude on October 7, 2026, while the wider Seva Sankalp Abhiyan is planned to continue until October 17.

The two motorcycle journeys are scheduled to start on September 17 at approximately 9:30 a.m. The Vadnagar leg will be flagged off by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, along with Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and other senior leaders.In Varanasi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath are expected to launch the journey towards Vadnagar. Around 1,000 Young Participants to Join the Campaign
