Train delays can be frustrating, especially when passengers are left waiting for hours at stations. Weather disruptions, technical issues, and operational challenges can sometimes affect train schedules. To reduce inconvenience, Indian Railways has introduced special provisions for passengers traveling on select premium trains.

Free Meals on Delayed Premium Trains

Passengers traveling on premium services such as the Rajdhani Express, Shatabdi Express, and Duronto Express may be eligible for complimentary meals if their train is delayed by two hours or more.

Under the catering guidelines followed by the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation, passengers can receive refreshments and meals during extended delays. Depending on the duration of the delay, the offerings may include tea, coffee, biscuits, bread and butter, snacks, and even full meals featuring rice, dal, vegetables, roti, or puri.
