Sonam Wangchuk Ends 26-Day Hunger Strike in Presence of Union Ministers
Social activist Sonam Wangchuk on Friday ended his indefinite hunger strike following a meeting with Union Health Minister JP Nadda and Union Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office Dr Jitendra Singh at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram, sources said.
According to sources, the two ministers met Wangchuk at the hospital, where he had been admitted for medical observation after his health deteriorated during the fast.
Wangchuk had been on an indefinite hunger strike in support of students protesting against alleged irregularities in competitive examinations. After spending several days on the fast, he was shifted to Medanta Hospital, where doctors recommended close monitoring of his health.
