Tamil Nadu CM Vijay's birthday: Free entry to three major zoos in the state for two days

Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government has announced free entry for the public to three major zoos in the state on the occasion of Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay’s 52nd birthday on June 22.

The public will be allowed free entry to the zoos on June 21 and 22 (Sunday and Monday).

Forest Minister R. V. Ranjithkumar said that the free-entry facility will be available at the Arignar Anna Zoological Park in Vandalur, Amirthi Zoological Park in Vellore district, and Kurumbapatti Zoological Park in Salem district.

Online registration mandatory

To avail of the free-entry facility, visitors must register online in advance and obtain tickets.

“The department will not suffer any financial loss due to free entry. The entire ticket cost for these two days, estimated at around Rs 1 crore, will be reimbursed to the government through my family trust,” the minister clarified.

Concerns over crowd surge

Wildlife enthusiasts and zoo officials have expressed concerns that Vandalur Zoo may witness excessive crowding.
