Viral Video: Woman Refuses to Pay Uber Driver ₹300, Blames Him for Traffic
A seemingly small dispute over a cab fare has sparked a massive debate online. A video circulating on social media shows a woman refusing to pay her Uber driver ₹300, blaming him for being late. The clip has gone viral, with most viewers siding with the driver and criticising the woman’s attitude.
The Heated Argument Caught on Camera
The video, recorded by the driver himself, captures a tense exchange. The driver is heard saying, “Badtameezi aapne ki hai (You have been rude),” to which the woman replies, “Mai Uber se baat karungi (I will talk to Uber).”
Frustrated, the driver insists,
“Uber se baat nahi, mere paise lekar bhaag rahi ho. Late aap hui ho… jam ke andar 2 mins late. Main nhi hua hu. Mere ₹300 aap lekar bhag rahe ho (Don’t talk to Uber, you are running away with my money. You were late, stuck just 2 minutes in traffic. It’s not my fault. You are running away with my ₹300).”
At one point, the woman accuses him of delaying the trip, saying, “Tum bus wale se lad rahe the (You were fighting with the bus guy).”
The driver, clearly upset, lashes out:
“₹300 dene ki aukaat nahi hoti hai tum logo ki, gaadiyo mein kya baithoge aap. ₹300 ki jagah ₹3 lakh ka nuksaan nhi hua tumhara toh mera naam bhi Ram nahi hai (You people don’t even have the capacity to pay ₹300, how will you ride cars? If you didn’t suffer a ₹3 lakh loss, then my name is not Ram).”
Despite his appeals, the woman is seen walking into a building without paying. The video also carried overlay text, highlighting the driver’s side of the story: “Traffic lag jae toh driver ki galti hai kya (Is it the driver’s fault if there’s traffic?)” and “Driver ke ₹300 nahi diya (Didn’t pay the driver ₹300).”
One user wrote, “A one lakh phone and at least a Rs 30,000 saree worn by madam - and she’s not even giving the taxi driver up to 300 rupees… The taxi driver must have been late too, probably because of traffic. Money has come, but values have gone."
Another remarked, “In reality, they aren’t as civilised as they portray themselves to be.”
A viewer expressed sympathy for the driver, saying, “The pain in his voice is so disheartening.” Another added, “The cost of her cruelty will come back a hundredfold.”
A Pattern of Fare Disputes
Interestingly, this isn’t the first such incident to surface online. Just a few days ago, another video showed a woman threatening to leave without paying her driver. The clash erupted over the drop-off point - the driver insisted he would stop only at the location fixed in the app, while the passenger demanded otherwise. The fight ended with her walking away without settling the fare.
Social media users linked both cases, voicing concerns about how service providers are treated.
One comment read: “She seemingly didn’t pay the cab/auto bill because it was late? If it was traffic, it’s not the driver’s fault.”
Another user summed up the bigger issue: “In India, we tend to take our Uber drivers and service people as lesser than us. This money means a lot to them and can decide profit or loss for a whole day.”
