The fitment factor is a formula used to convert the existing basic salary into the new basic salary. Simply put, your current basic pay is multiplied by a specific number (the fitment factor). Consequently, the higher the fitment factor, the greater the increase in basic salary. As of now, the government has not clarified which fitment factor will be implemented under the 8th Pay Commission.

Why is there a demand for a fitment factor of 3.83? If the government accepts this demand, the minimum basic salary could rise from ₹18,000 to approximately ₹69,000. However, no official decision has been taken by the government on this matter yet.
