Music composer Amaal Mallik has broken his silence on Arijit Singh 's return to playback singing with the title track of ' Awarapan 2 '. The collaboration has generated significant buzz among music lovers, especially because Arijit had earlier announced his retirement from playback singing. Addressing the speculation, Amaal clarified that the singer's participation was neither part of an old commitment nor the revival of a previously recorded track. Sharing the details on social media, the composer explained that the melody had been sent to Arijit several months ago. He wrote, “One last time I’m stating this, This song is not some old agreement or something that was already sung and he came to redo it. This melody was sent a few months back and he has literally agreed only and last week to sing it."

Composer explains what convinced Arijit Singh

Amaal went on to reveal the factors that influenced Arijit's decision to return for the project. According to him, the collaboration was built on mutual respect, friendship, and the singer's appreciation for the people associated with the film. At the same time, he emphasized that the melody itself remained the deciding factor.

The composer explained that Arijit never accepts a song unless it genuinely resonates with him emotionally. He added that the title track succeeded because it managed to strike that connection. He shared, “It’s mainly his love for me as an artist and friend, then comes his respect for the producers and the actor of the film. If the melody doesn’t touch his heart he will not take up the song…. Thats the truth and the only truth. Now wait for the magic to unfold."

In another social media post, Amaal expressed his admiration for Arijit's contribution to the song. He described the singer's rendition as one of the highlights of the project and said listeners would witness another memorable performance. The composer also suggested that only an exceptional melody could have persuaded Arijit to return for a playback recording. He wrote, “Only a pure melody could get the beast out of his den. A vocal performance to watch out for…. #ArijitSingh gives his heart and soul yet again for the title song of #Awarapan2. It doesn’t get bigger than this."
