Veteran lyricist Vairamuthu has made an emotional appeal to the Tamil Nadu government , requesting that a memorial be built in honour of legendary filmmaker Bharathiraja . The acclaimed director, fondly known as "Iyakkunar Imayam," passed away on June 10 after battling age-related health woes. He was laid to rest with full state honours at his native village in Theni district . Weeks after his passing, Vairamuthu visited the burial site and revealed his plans to meet Chief Minister Vijay to secure a permanent landmark honoring the director's contributions to Indian cinema.
