In fact, according to the new traffic regulations, motorists must pay their traffic fines within 45 days of receiving a challan. Failure to do so may result in strict legal action against the driver, in addition to the imposition of heavy penalties.

On the other hand, if a motorist wishes to challenge a challan in court, they must first file an online complaint and deposit 50 percent of the fine amount. However, it is crucial to note that strict action will be taken against those who persistently ignore their challans; under these new rules, measures such as blocking driving licenses and vehicle registrations have now been fully incorporated.

No Leniency for Habitual Violators

The Delhi Traffic Police is now cracking down on motorists who frequently overspeed or flagrantly disregard traffic regulations. The driving licenses of such drivers will now be temporarily suspended. Providing details regarding this initiative, several Delhi Traffic Police officials explained that merely imposing fines does not always bring about the desired change; rather, taking stringent measures is essential to compel such drivers to mend their ways.

It is Essential for People to be Aware of Safety

Moreover, traffic police officials believe that ensuring road safety cannot be achieved solely by issuing heavy fines; rather, it is now absolutely crucial for people to become self-aware. No one can predict just how grave a threat a minor act of negligence might pose to someone. However, by remaining vigilant and adhering to traffic regulations while driving, one can also foster a greater sense of awareness among fellow motorists.
