According to the *Panchang* (almanac), the *Shukla Panchami Tithi* of the Sawan month begins on August 16 at 04:52 PM and concludes on August 17 at 05:00 PM. Based on the *Udaya Tithi* (the sunrise date), the festival of Nag Panchami will be celebrated on August 17.

The Serpent Deity is considered an ornament adorning Lord Mahadev's neck.
