Farhan Akhtar in talks for major role

Farhan Akhtar is reportedly in discussions to join the cast in a pivotal role. According to reports, he is being considered to portray Lala Amarnath’s closest friend, a character expected to play a vital part in the narrative. As quoted by Pinkvilla, “Aamir Khan plays Lala Amarnath in the film, which is essentially a friendship story set against the backdrop of cricket and Partition. Farhan Akhtar is in talks for the role of his closest friend. The emotional dynamics between the two characters form the heart of the narrative."

Rajkumar Hirani on board?

The film is reportedly being produced by Aamir Khan in association with Excel Entertainment and filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani. The same report stated, “The film is being produced by Aamir Khan along with Excel Entertainment and Rajkumar Hirani, and is expected to go on floors around October 2026 with a start-to-finish schedule."

Script development underway

The screenplay has reportedly gone through several rounds of refinement. Writer Abhijat Joshi is believed to have contributed to the script along with Rajkumar Hirani. Set around the tumultuous events of 1947, the film aims to blend history, friendship, and cricket into a deeply personal story. The focus is expected to remain on the bond between the two central characters.

Aamir Khan’s recent work

On the work front, Aamir Khan was most recently seen in Sitaare Zameen Par. The film also starred Genelia D'Souza and received a positive response from many viewers.
