I wanted to capture F1 rush through my music: Alan Walker
By Ruchita Shashikanth
Music producer Alan Walker has unveiled The Sting Within Me , a high-octane track inspired by the sounds, speed and adrenaline of Formula 1. The song made its live debut during the Formula 1 MSC Cruises Barcelona Grand Prix 2026 weekend, drawing an enthusiastic response from fans. In an exclusive interview with Bangalore Times, Alan opens about translating the thrill of race day into music, the growing influence of Formula 1 among younger audiences, and the studio moment when the song’s unique concept finally clicked into place.
'The goal was to create something relatable and energetic'
What made this collaboration so exciting was how naturally those worlds came together. When I was working on the music, I wanted to translate that feeling of constant motion into the sound. There’s a sense of anticipation, acceleration, and intensity that defines Formula 1, and I tried to reflect that through the pacing, dynamics, and overall atmosphere of the track. My music has always leaned into cinematic and immersive storytelling, so the idea was to create something that felt like it was constantly moving forward. At the same time, I wanted it to resonate with younger audiences who experience culture in a fast, digital way. The goal was to create something energetic and emotional that people could instantly connect with.
'The build-up before the race is a very powerful moment in F1'
For me, one of the most powerful moments in Formula 1 is the build-up just before the race begins. There’s an incredible sense of tension and anticipation, where everyone knows something exciting is about to happen. I really wanted to capture that feeling in the music.
The sound also had to reflect the raw power of the cars and the energy of the engines, as that's such an iconic part of the F1 experience. Beyond that, the atmosphere created by the crowd plays a huge role. You can feel the excitement and emotion from the fans, and I wanted listeners to experience that collective energy through the track.
'Music is one of the ways younger generation connects with culture'
Music adds another emotional layer to the Formula 1 experience. It helps create atmosphere, build excitement, and make key moments even more memorable. For younger audiences especially, music is a huge part of how they engage with culture, so it naturally becomes a bridge into sport.
