Following the implementation of the Central Government's Jan Vishwas Act, several provisions related to the Railways have been amended. If a passenger engages in intoxication, spreads obscenity, or creates a mess on railway premises or the train, action will be taken, and a fine of ₹1,000 will be imposed.

What happens if the fine is not paid?

If a passenger repeatedly violates rules or refuses to pay the fine, the penalty amount can be increased to ₹5,000. Additionally, the passenger may be offloaded mid-journey to ensure other travelers do not face any inconvenience. Failure to pay the fine could also result in the passenger being referred to the Railway Magistrate Court.

At the court, the fine amount may be increased, and the passenger could face imprisonment for up to six months. The objective behind these rules is to ensure a comfortable and safe journey for all passengers, free from any inconvenience.
