This newly constructed ancestral home of the Kapoor family is now home to Alia Bhatt, her husband Ranbir Kapoor, their daughter Raha, and Ranbir's mother, Neetu Kapoor. The bungalow pays tribute to Ranbir's late grandmother, Krishna Raj Kapoor. The original property has been in the Kapoor family since 1981, when Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh made it their residence. Following Rishi Kapoor's death, Ranbir took on the ambitious task of demolishing the old structure to create a modern home, with his mother's full support. The result is a contemporary dwelling that retains deep emotional significance.

Throughout the extensive renovation process, the couple remained actively involved. During an Instagram Live session, Ranbir shared that a recent vacation also served as a house-hunting trip: "The vacation was great. It was like work-cum-vacation - as some of you guys know, I am shifting to my new house, so we had to do some house shopping." Alia expressed her joy at an event in Dubai shortly after moving in, stating, "This visit comes from a very personal space as we have just moved into our new home in Mumbai."
The bungalow includes a special room for Ranbir's sister, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, and her daughter, Samara, in addition to the couple's private quarters. The six-storey mansion has been designed to withstand moderate earthquakes, a unique feature for residential buildings. The ground and third floors are designed as independent private villas, with Neetu Kapoor having an entire floor dedicated to her, while Ranbir, Alia, and little Raha occupy another.
No expense was spared in the interior design. Reports indicate that custom-made glass was imported from Italy to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the home, along with select furniture pieces sourced from the same country. Kitchen fittings and accessories were imported from the Netherlands, while exotic plants from Southeast Asia adorn the terraces, creating a lush, resort-like atmosphere.
The mansion boasts two expansive swimming pools—one on the couple's private floor and another on the rooftop. At the entrance, a grand four-foot Ganesha idol sits atop a 2.5-foot pedestal, crafted by Arjun Yogiraj, the same artist responsible for the Bal Ram idol at the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.

Prior to moving into Krishna Raj, Alia made her mark in Mumbai's real estate market. In November 2020, she acquired a 2,460 sq ft apartment on the fifth floor of the Vastu building in Pali Hill for around Rs 32 million, with interiors designed by Gauri Khan. Additionally, she owns a luxury apartment in Covent Garden, London, a city she considers a second home.
