'It's a death trap': Ceiling crashes inside Noida apartment, viral visuals leave residents shaken

A routine day at a Noida housing society turned into a nightmare in just a few seconds after a part of the ceiling inside an apartment suddenly came crashing down. Thankfully, no one was injured, but residents say the incident could easily have ended in a tragedy.

The incident took place on Thursday at Gardenia Gateway Society in Sector 75. According to a Dainik Jagran report, the tenant had walked out of the room only moments before the ceiling collapsed. Seconds later, chunks of concrete and plaster landed right on the bed.

It's the kind of close call that's enough to leave anyone shaken.

A lucky escape caught on camera

Videos and photos from the apartment have now gone viral, and they're hard to ignore. The room is covered in dust and debris, while the bed is almost completely buried under broken pieces of concrete.

The collapse reportedly happened in Flat No. 1814 in Tower C-2. The flat belongs to Rakesh Khokar, who has rented it out. After learning about the incident, he reportedly got workers to inspect the damage and begin repair work.

The ceiling may have fallen in just one room, but for many residents, it has raised a much bigger question: if this can happen in one flat, could it happen somewhere else too?

'How safe are these buildings?'

It didn't take long for the videos to spread across social media, where people were quick to voice their concerns.

Some users pointed to the exposed concrete and steel rods in the viral visuals, saying they appeared to show poor construction quality. Others felt years of water seepage could also have weakened the ceiling.

Many wondered whether the entire building should now be inspected instead of treating it as an isolated incident.

One user questioned how homebuyers are supposed to judge the quality of construction before buying a flat. Another said incidents like these show why stricter quality checks are needed, even after people have moved into a building.

'It could have been much worse'

The fact that no one was injured has come as a huge relief. But that's also what's making the incident so unsettling.

"If someone had been sleeping there, this would have been a completely different story," one social media user wrote.

Another described the apartment as "a death trap," while several others called for structural audits of older residential societies before another close call turns into a fatal accident.
