Kajal Aggarwal says she chooses real estate over high-risk investments as startup bets failed to pay off: ' Do not have the confidence, yet to take independent decisions'

While several actors are diversifying their wealth through startups and alternative investment opportunities, Kajal Aggarwal says she is more comfortable sticking to traditional avenues. During a recent visit to Delhi to promote her upcoming film 'The India Story', the actor revealed that she prioritises financial security over chasing high returns.

Speaking to Moneycontrol, Kajal admitted that investing is an area she is still trying to understand better and that she continues to seek guidance before making important financial decisions.

Kajal Aggarwal relies on family for financial guidanceKajal candidly confessed that she is yet to develop the confidence to manage investments entirely on her own. She shared that she currently depends on her father and husband for advice while navigating financial decisions.

"Honest confession, I'm not very good at it. I genuinely, I should be focusing a lot more. And I do follow Moneycontrol to learn more. And luckily for me, I do have, strong guiding factors, who hand-hold me through it. I am, at the moment, dependent, on my, for my decision-making process. I do not have the confidence as yet to take independent decisions, when it comes to money. Or at least investment of money," she said.

Why real estate remains her first choiceExplaining her approach, Kajal said safeguarding her capital is more important than pursuing aggressive profits. For that reason, she continues to favour real estate over investments she considers uncertain.

"But, I do believe that, real estate is definitely, one of the good options. And I am the sorts, who naturally gravitates towards, the more conventional, the safer, investment options versus the riskier, investment options. That's just how I am, as a person. So, even if I do make lesser, out of my capital, I prefer doing it, because it's safer," she added.

Her investment style mirrors that of several actors who have built substantial real estate portfolios alongside their careers in cinema.

Bollywood's growing interest in propertyOver the years, several film stars have invested heavily in premium residential and commercial properties, viewing real estate as a stable long-term wealth creation strategy while also benefiting from rental income and portfolio diversification.

Among the prominent names are Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, John Abraham, Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt and Salman Khan, all of whom have made significant property investments.

Startup investments didn't work outKajal also revealed that her experience with startup investing has not been encouraging. According to the actor, some of the ventures she invested in failed to survive, reinforcing her preference for safer financial choices.

"I feel one also, needs to be lucky to, find the right, startup. Usually, we have done, a couple of investments in the past, but they've not gone down well, unfortunately. So, the startups, unfortunately crashed, they did not see the light of day. So, I feel there's like, time and place, and you need to, really get lucky, or you need the right, advice."
