Kangana Ranaut's Manali Mansion: A Dream Realized

Before rising to fame as a Bollywood actress and a Member of Parliament, Kangana Ranaut was just a girl from Manali with aspirations of building a home in her beloved mountains. This dream materialized into an impressive mansion worth Rs. 30 crore in her hometown of Himachal Pradesh, which has garnered significant media attention.

Origins of the Manali Home

Reports indicate that Ranaut acquired the land in Manali for approximately Rs 10 crore shortly after her 2014 film, Queen, became a hit. She invested an additional Rs 20 crore to transform it into a luxurious residence. The construction took nearly four years, during which she collaborated with various architects to finalize the design.

The home holds profound personal significance for Ranaut. In previous interviews, she mentioned that the idea to build a house came to her about four years before its completion when she expressed her desire to her parents. The decision was influenced by a nearby temple associated with the legend of Kartikeya's mahasamadhi in the Himalayas, leading to the name Kartikeya Niwas. For her, this house symbolizes more than just wealth; it embodies spiritual importance.

Perched at an elevation of about 2,000 meters, the property spans roughly 7,600 square feet. While reports vary on the number of bedrooms—either seven or eight—they all highlight a key feature: each room offers stunning views of the mountains and has its own balcony. A rooftop glass conservatory was designed to maximize sunlight during the long winters in Manali. The dining area is strategically placed to enjoy mountain vistas, while the living room features a fireplace for warmth during colder months. As a fitness enthusiast, Ranaut ensured the house includes a gym and a yoga room, complete with hardwood flooring, a mirrored wall, and a vaulted concrete ceiling.
