During a car ride home, the two had a short conversation that made her realise that their relationship is not going anywhere. She stated, “We were driving home from my birthday party, my friends had had. And I said, 'Did you get me a birthday present?' And he said, 'What would I get you, Olivia? I don't know you’. And he wasn't wrong. We didn't know each other anymore.”
She further added, "And this is the thing that made me wanna make ['The Invite'] because, or one of the things, because you can get to a place in a relationship where you stop engaging in the knowing of each other in the curiosity about each other.” The two of them had a conversation and decided that their relationship had run its course. However, she commented that two days after they came to the harrowing conclusion, the COVID-19 lockdown happened all across the world, and everyone was stuck at home.
