The moment travelers have long awaited has finally arrived. You will soon be able to easily travel from Delhi to Rishikesh on weekends, as Indian Railways is set to launch the 'Namo Bharat' train under the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS).

The Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Namo Bharat train route will strengthen connectivity between Delhi and Western Uttar Pradesh.

Operating at speeds of up to 160 kmph, the train will cover the distance from Delhi to Rishikesh in three hours. Currently, the journey from Delhi to Rishikesh via the expressway takes approximately six hours.

The proposed extension of the Namo Bharat train route from Meerut to Rishikesh includes several major cities and religious sites. Starting from Meerut, the train will pass through Daurala, Khatauli, Muzaffarnagar, and Purkaji before entering Uttarakhand.

It will then proceed via Roorkee, Haridwar, and Har Ki Pauri to reach Rishikesh.

According to the plan, Lakshman Jhula could serve as the terminal station for the train beyond Rishikesh. The launch of this route will make travel between Delhi-NCR, Western Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand faster and easier, while also greatly benefiting pilgrims and tourists visiting Haridwar and Rishikesh.

Once all necessary procedures are completed on schedule, the journey from Delhi to Haridwar and Rishikesh will become significantly faster, more comfortable, and more convenient than before.

This train will offer passengers amenities such as air conditioning, comfortable seating, mobile and laptop charging points, Wi-Fi, CCTV surveillance, GPS, special facilities for the differently-abled, and enhanced security measures.

According to media reports, the fare for the 'Namo Bharat' train from Delhi to Rishikesh is estimated to range between ₹450 and ₹520 for standard coaches and between ₹900 and ₹1,000 for premium coaches. Work on the project is expected to accelerate following approval from the Uttarakhand government.
