Riddhi Bandyopadhyay's Vande Mataram concert celebrates India's patriotic musical heritage
Patriotic fervour filled Rotary Sadan as singer Riddhi Bandyopadhyay presented Vande Mataram, a musical tribute to India's spirit of nationalism, along with the students of the Riddhi Bandyopadhyay Music Academy .
The evening opened with Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay's iconic Vande Mataram, set to music by Bhabanicharan Das, and featured a selection of timeless patriotic compositions by Dwijendralal Roy, Atulprasad Sen and Rajanikanta Sen. Songs including Utho Go Bharata Lakshmi, Mayer Deoa Mota Kapor, Ke Abar Bajay Bashi and Suprabhater Prothom Mantra – Vande Mataram struck a chord with the audience.
Solo performances by Ishita Banerjee, Shimli Mondal, Ahana Basu, Tapanistha Mitra, Rituparna Mondal and Srijita Sen received warm applause, while the chorus, featuring Indrani Basu, Sharmila Guha, Bulbul Mukherjee and others, added depth to the presentation.
Despite persistent rain, the auditorium witnessed a strong turnout. Held on the death anniversary of legendary actor Uttam Kumar and against the backdrop of unrest in Kolkata, the concert offered an evening of reflection, unity and patriotism through music.
