'Rs 370 Ki Biryani' and 'Male Cadaver' row: Pranit More and Sejal Pawar to record statement at Maharashtra Cyber Cell

Newspoint
Comedian Pranit More has been trending on the internet for the past few weeks. Typically known for his off-handed jokes and risky comments that often toe the line, this time he crossed it enough to truly enrage the country.

One by one, two of his shows led to nation-wide outrage not only for him but also for the people who made the offensive comments. In one of the incidents, an MBBS student Dr Sejal Pawar made an insensitive and disrespectful remark over the size of the private parts of male cadavers. Following this, she faced trolling online along with an FIR being filed against her and More by the Maharashtra cyber police. More also faced the same for having encouraged the conversation and wilfully participated in it.

Now, it has been reported that Pranit and Sejal were summoned by the agency and were asked to appear for a statement at their office. While both agreed to cooperate with the investigation, they demanded an extension on the matter. The agency agreed to the request and will now be recording their statement tomorrow on June 17 at the Cyber Cell.

What happened with Pranit More and Sejal Pawar?
In a video from his show a few months ago, More could be seen talking to Dr Sejal Pawar. The undergraduate MBBS student associated with King Edward Memorial (KEM) hospital in Mumbai talked about cadavers used in medical education.

The conversation had begun with More asking Pawar if doctors remained serious or cracked jokes while conducting autopsies. She revealed that she and her colleagues would often compare the sizes of the male cadavers' private parts. "Whatever jo bhi, size vagera jo bhi," she said.

As the video went viral on social media both the comedian and the woman faced backlash online, as Pawar herself said that doctors and students are supposed to respect the body, even taking an oath for the same. Many claimed that Pawar crossed an ethical line, while More remained oblivious to the gravity of the statement and joked about it further.

Soon, Pawar took to Instagram to issue an apology, calling herself "really very naïve" and accepting her mistake. "Maine agar aapke sentiments hurt kiye toh, I am sorry," she said.

More who initially deactivated his Instagram account also issued two apologies for the same. "This is something I wanted to say for a long time, but my Instagram was suspended. Many of you might have seen my crowd work video, for which I have been receiving a lot of hate. I feel I deserve this hate. Because while I was doing crowd work with that guy, he said many derogatory things, but everyone was laughing. I got carried away, and it was a lapse in judgment. I feel this was a big mistake on my part. I could have stopped him there or taken a stand, but I didn't. I gave him a platform, which caused things to escalate. To anyone who was hurt because of this, I want to apologise," he said in the second video while requesting a second chance and vowing to be a better person.
