'The Boroughs' Geena Davis gives rare insight about personal life: Says she used to 'put on lots of silly plays'
Geena Davis , one of the most iconic faces from the 90s in cinema, is making headlines again for her work in ‘ The Boroughs ’ as Renee Joyce. In a recent interview, the Oscar-winning actress gave a rare insight into her life in Wareham and her upbringing in the quiet little town.

She shared that even from a young age in a town like Wareham, she wanted to become a Hollywood star and had dreamt of acting and being on the big screen from an early age.
She added, “At home, the TV was often on. My parents said I was 3 when I first told them I’d be an actor. I think I saw acting as a way to be somebody who didn’t have to blend in.” Another adorable antic that she picked on was the fact that many TV show stars would wear glasses, and that she would often copy them. From an early age, Davis was inspired by the life of glitz and glam.
As for her start in the industry, while it came at a much later age, Davis was all about making the most of things as a child. She opened up about her best friend, Lucyann. She shared that the two of them would “put on lots of silly plays, many based on TV shows.”

She joked about the matter and even added that because of this, her neighbours would often call her mother to complain. “On my bike, away from social constraints, I often pretended to be in a battle, yelling at my troops, or I sang at the top of my lungs. I assumed no one would hear me, but, of course, they did – and called my mother.”
On the work front, Davis launched her career after graduation, when she finalized a role in the film ‘Tootsie.’ She last appeared in ‘The Boroughs’ as one of the leading cast members. As for films, she was last seen on the big screen in ‘Blink Twice’ in 2024.
