IRCTC's New Website
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has personally announced the upcoming launch of the new IRCTC website. In a video shared by the news agency ANI on X (formerly Twitter), he states that the new website will be launched by July 15; the video is currently going viral on social media. This initiative by the Railways aims to eliminate the inconveniences passengers currently face on the online platform.
The video is from a college event attended by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. When students asked what the Railways was doing to improve IRCTC, he called a railway official right there in front of everyone to ask when the new website would launch. He received confirmation that it would be ready by July 15.
What features will the new website offer?
Once the new website launches, passengers will no longer face the issues they currently encounter. Improvements include:
- Booking tickets will become easier, faster, and more efficient.
- The new website will be more modern and user-friendly than the current one.
- It will not hang or crash even when a large number of users access the site simultaneously.
- The website will be capable of processing approximately 1.5 lakh ticket bookings and up to 40 lakh inquiries per minute. The new website will feature multilingual support, improved seat selection options, a fare calendar, and enhanced accessibility for persons with disabilities, patients, and students.
It is worth noting that Indian Railways is fully digitising its systems, and this new website is part of that initiative. According to railway officials, detailed information regarding the website's facilities will be provided prior to its launch; users will be informed about features such as the user migration process and help desk details.
