The Railways has made special provisions for passengers; knowing these can help you easily obtain a refund.

If you need to change trains and happen to miss one, you can take specific steps during the booking process to ensure you remain eligible for a refund.

  • If booking via the IRCTC website, select the 'Connecting Journey Booking' option beforehand.
  • Next, you will need to enter the PNR number of your first train.
  • By doing this, the Railways will register both legs of the trip as a single connecting journey.

Steps to claim a refund

  • After missing the second train, you must apply for a refund as soon as possible.
  • To qualify for the refund, you must apply within three hours of your first train's arrival at the station.
  • You will need to file a TDR (Ticket Deposit Receipt) for this purpose.
  • If you apply after the deadline, the request will not be accepted, and you will lose the money spent on the ticket.
  • You must complete the entire process in accordance with the established Railway rules.
