'Vaibhav basically allowed Samaira to take the lead in deciding': Dia Mirza on how her stepdaughter's 'acceptance was key' in her decision to marry Vaibhav Rekhi
Dia Mirza has always been deeply involved in her son Avyaan's life and has taken great care to build a warm and loving bond with her stepdaughter Samaira . The actress, who tied the knot with businessman Vaibhav Rekhi in 2021, has spoken fondly about their blended family on several occasions. In a recent interview, Dia made a heartfelt revelation: if Samaira had not approved of her relationship with Vaibhav, she would have walked away from the marriage altogether. She also opened up about losing her father at a young age and how that painful experience shaped the person she has become today.

Dia Mirza on losing her father at a young age
In a conversation with Times Entertainment on the latest episode of 'Not Done Yet', Dia opened up about losing both her biological father and stepfather at a relatively young age. “I think when you see death early in life and when you recognise the futility of the pursuit of just the material and how it really doesn’t get you anything. Because when you see your parent dead, and all you see is their corpse, they take nothing with them. All they leave behind are the feelings that you have in your heart and the memories you created with them. That defines a lot of your choices and I think it did for me. I was 23 when I lost Abba (father). I was 9 when I lost my biological father. Those two very strong instances, life’s greatest realities, changed a lot for me,” she said.
