When Gary Oldman revealed why he turned down 'Edward Scissorhands'

Los Angeles, July 3 (IANS) Veteran actor Gary Oldman once spoke about why he turned down ‘Edward Scissorhands’. An old video of the actor has resurfaced on the Internet, and it shows him talking about not relating with the source material of the film.

He said, “I've turned a few things down.

I can't say I regret it, but I couldn't mention them. I can tell you one story about ‘Edward Scissorhands’. I read the script and I went, it's ridiculous, there's a castle at the end of this road and then an Avon lady comes around selling makeup and this kid's got scissors hands. This is nuts, I don't get this at all. And ended up not doing it”.

He further mentioned, “I just said, ‘I don't get it’. Then of course, they cast Johnny Depp, and Tim Burton was relatively unknown at that time too.
