Woman, 70, says £30 M&S trousers are a 'must have style for all shapes and ages'

The retailer's Pure Cotton Drawstring Barrel Leg Ankle Grazer Trousers have swiftly become a bestseller thanks to their laid-back silhouette, airy cotton material and effortless design.

Priced at £30, the trousers boast a high-waisted cut, elasticated drawstring waistband and fashionable barrel leg shape that ends at the ankle.

Crafted from 100% cotton, the trousers are breathable, establishing them as an excellent choice for higher temperatures without needing to bare your legs. Offered in two shades - black and white - shoppers have been pleading for the retailer to launch them in additional colours.

Barrel-leg trousers have surfaced as one of this year's most prominent fashion movements, featuring across designer ranges and premium high street labels alike.

The M&S alternativeseems to deliver a comparable aesthetic without an expensive price point, regarded as a budget-friendly option to the likes of Cos.

One M&S customer said: "These are just like the Cos barrel trousers, but half the price! Please make them in more colours, M&S."

By comparison, the Elasticated Barrel-Leg Trousers from Cos will set you back £75. Available in seven colours, including dark brown and dark red, they are crafted from lightweight cotton, featuring a similar elasticated waistband and generously voluminous silhouette, reportsWales Online.

Over at Uniqlo, the Jersey Barrel Leg Trousers contain just 31% cotton, yet remain pricier than the Marks & Spencer offering at £34.90. Offered in seven colours ranging from dark green to off-white, they boast a near-perfect 4.8-star rating drawn from more than 1,000 customer reviews.

Back at M&S, their much-loved summer trousers have garnered a 4.4-star ratingbased on more than 40 reviews accumulated over the past three months. One thrilled customer enthused: "Great trousers.

Very comfy, lightweight and quick drying. Great for travelling and staying cool."

One shopper aged 70 described the trousersas a wardrobe staple, revealing that both she and her teenage granddaughter are admirers. She said: "These are so on trend and at a brilliant price. A must-have style for this summer and so easy to wear for all shapes and ages. I am 70 and love them, my granddaughter of 18 wants a pair. Beautifully made with good quality cotton fabric."

The trousersdid not appeal to everyone, however, with one review stating: "I like the fit and style, but the fabric is a little on the stiff side, even after washing."
