For many people, a six-figure salary is seen as a milestone. But one woman's story is getting attention for a very different reason. Instead of celebrating a well-paying corporate career, she says walking away from it was one of the best decisions she made for her health.

Her Instagram post has gone viral after she shared that she quit her corporate job at the age of 33 to work as a waitress. According to her, the move came after months of struggling with severe IBS, which she believes was linked to stress from her office job. Since then, people across social media have been sharing their own experiences, while others have questioned whether such a decision is practical for everyone.

She says months of tests could not explain her symptoms
In her Instagram post, Sarame Cornish recalled how difficult the last few months of her corporate career had become. She said she spent that period visiting a gastrointestinal specialist and undergoing several medical tests in an effort to understand what was causing her severe IBS.

She wrote, “The last 6 months of my corporate job, I was on a diet of air & leaves while undergoing every test under the sun with a gastrointestinal specialist to figure out what was causing my severe IBS.”

She later shared that, according to her experience, stress was the real reason behind her condition.

“Turns out it was just stress, and every single symptom went away as soon as I quit. Never been healthier.”

The video explained why she has no regrets
The video begins with a message that sums up how she feels about leaving her previous career.

“I gave up a six-figure salary to work as a waitress at 33… and will literally mop this floor for the rest of my life if it means I never have another stress-related IBS symptom again. HEALTH IS WEALTH .”

The clip shows Cornish smiling as she mops the floor at work.

Many people supported her decision
Her post received a flood of comments from users who said they understood where she was coming from.

One person wrote, “It is absolutely unhinged what we have been taught to accept for ourselves.”

Another commented, “Girl, do your thing! Job titles mean nothing - as long as you’re happy & healthy!”

Cornish replied, “Couldn’t agree more.”

Another user also shared a similar experience, writing, “I can relate to this 100%! I gave up my full-time job working in the Emergency Department as a nurse last year, and now I do lashes and Botox for work, and I feel 10x happier and healthier.”

Others said the reality can be different
The discussion also included people who felt that leaving a corporate job is not always a realistic option.
