According to Hindu religion, this Radha Kund was formed by Lord Krishna, which is believed to have done so after slaying the demon Aristasura, who manifested as a bull. Radha Rani requested that Lord Krishna to take bath in all of the sacred rivers because bulls are members of the cow family. After that, Lord Krishna constructed a single pond, or kund, by gathering the water from all the sacred rivers known as Shyam Kund, he created that kund by slamming his lotus feet into the earth. Beside the Shyam Kund, Radha Rani also made another Kund using her bangles. Water from all the sacred rivers is believed to have asked Radha Rani to allow them to enter the Kund, which she made.

Devotees come here to take bath in the sacred water. In order to obtain the blessings of Lord Krishna and Goddess Radha, devotees offer prayers to them. Together, the couple stands in the kund, offers Petha or a white uncooked pumpkin, and asks Radha Rani to grant their wish. In order to conceive, they present sweets and flowers, ignite incense sticks, light a diya with desi ghee, and cover the raw pumpkin with red cloth.
