Here are some of the biggest referee mistakes that fans still talk about years later.

Diego Maradona's "Hand of God" – Argentina vs England (1986)

You cannot talk about referee decisions without mentioning the "Hand of God". This was a famous game between Argentina and England in the 1986 World Cup. Diego Maradona hit the ball into the net with his hand. The referee did not see it. So the goal. Argentina won the game 2-1. They even won the World Cup that year. This mistake is still remembered as one of the biggest in football history.

Frank Lampard's Ghost Goal – England vs Germany (2010)

England fans still wonder what could have happened in the 2010 FIFA World Cup Round of 16. Frank Lampard's powerful strike hit the crossbar, bounced well over the goal line, and came back into play. Despite clear evidence that the ball had crossed the line, neither the referee nor the assistant awarded the goal. Germany eventually won 4-1, and the incident became one of the biggest reasons FIFA later introduced Goal-Line Technology.

South Korea vs Italy – World Cup 2002

This game between South Korea and Italy is still talked about today. The referee made some bad decisions and Italy was not happy. One of their players got a yellow card for pretending to be hurt and they also had a goal that did not count. South Korea won the game with a goal but many people thought the referee's mistakes changed the way the game turned out.
