Cricket World Cup 2027: 8 teams have qualified for the 2027 World Cup, including two-time World Cup winners

The International Cricket Council has begun preparations for the 2027 Cricket World Cup. The cut-off date for qualification for the 2027 ODI World Cup has been set for September 30, 2026. A total of 14 teams will participate in the World Cup, which will be hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia next year. The World Cup will be played from October 4 to November 21. 

South Africa and Zimbabwe have secured direct qualification for the World Cup as hosts. The format is such that the two hosts will receive direct qualification, while the next eight teams will be determined based on rankings. The top eight teams in the ODI rankings, excluding South Africa and Zimbabwe, will qualify.

8 teams have qualified

South Africa, Zimbabwe, India, New Zealand, Australia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and England have qualified for the 2027 ODI World Cup. If Afghanistan and Bangladesh remain at the 8th and 9th position in the ODI rankings till 30 September 2026, then they will get the World Cup ticket. In such a situation, two-time world champion West Indies will not be able to get direct qualification and will have to try to reach the World Cup by overcoming the challenge of the qualification tournament. The qualification stage for which will be the last 4 teams, among a total of 36 teams, has already started from the year 2024.
