'Dhoni In A Different League': Sourav Ganguly On MS Dhoni And Dhruv Jurel Comparison
Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly has opted not to draw parallels between Dhruv Jurel and MS Dhoni following the young wicketkeeper 's remarkable performance during the Ranchi Test .
Jurel showcased a sublime display in the fourth Test held in Dhoni 's hometown, contributing significantly to India 's series-clinching victory against England. Post the match, many were quick to draw comparisons between Jurel and Dhoni, with Sunil Gavaskar being the first to suggest that the youngster bore resemblance to the former Indian skipper.
While Ganguly acknowledged the similarities, he expressed to RevSportz that Dhoni stands in a league of his own. The former BCCI President emphasized that it took Dhoni considerable time to ascend to his stature and advised giving Jurel the space to carve his own path.
"Dhruv Jurel... what a Test match he had under pressure on a difficult wicket. There is huge talent and if you miss you and you go back down in the ladder, it will be very hard to come back. MS Dhoni is in a different league. Jurel has talent; there's no doubt about it. But it took MS Dhoni 20 years to be MS Dhoni. Rather 15 years for Dhoni to be Dhoni. So let him (Jurel) play. Jurel's ability to play spin, pace and most importantly to perform under pressure. That's what you look for in a youngster," said Ganguly.
Having made his debut in the Rajkot Test, Jurel swiftly left a strong impression both with the bat and behind the stumps. The Uttar Pradesh wicketkeeper crafted a resilient 46 runs in his debut innings and played a pivotal role in India's rescue mission in Ranchi.

"Obviously it's a good feeling to hear a legend like Sunil Gavaskar talk about me. The mood was great, there were no specific instructions... just to go out and play. Watch the ball and play. Just that the long I play the better it is."
