FIDE reveals host city for Gukesh vs Sindarov World Championship clash; youngest-ever title match in chess history

NEW DELHI: The International Chess Federation (FIDE) has announced Geneva, Switzerland, as the host city for the 2026 FIDE World Championship Match, where reigning champion Gukesh Dommaraju will defend his crown against Uzbek challenger Javokhir Sindarov in what promises to be a historic showdown.

The World Championship match will be held from November 25 to December 15, with both Gukesh and Sindarov set to be 20 years old when the contest begins, making it the youngest World Championship match in chess history .
