1. Technical Regulations

7. Track Limits

8. Track Temperature

Track temperature refers to the temperature of the racing surface which is usually much hotter than the surrounding air. This has a major effect on tyre behaviour as hot tracks increase tyre wear while cooler tracks may make tyres slower to reach their ideal operating temperature.

9. Traction

10. Turbulence

Turbulence also known as "dirty air" is the disrupted airflow created by another car. This makes it harder for the following driver to maintain downforce. Modern F1 cars are designed to reduce the effects of turbulence and improve close racing.


11. Turbocharger

The turbocharger is a part of the power unit which uses exhaust gases to spin a turbine. It compresses air entering the engine which further increases engine performance and efficiency. Drivers have a limited allocation each season, with penalties for exceeding it.

13. Tyre Blanket

The tyre blanket also referred to as a tyre warmer is an Electric blanket wrapped around tyres before running. It brings tyres close to their optimum operating temperature which helps drivers achieve grip immediately after leaving the garage.
