India A won that match by 10 wickets and clinched the 2-match series 1-0.
That experience in Sri Lankan conditions could prove valuable for India. With Washington Sundar missing the first Test, Jain provides an additional off-spin option while also strengthening the batting lower down the order. His maiden call-up is a major recognition for a player who made his first-class debut for Madhya Pradesh in the 2014-15 season. After spending years in domestic cricket, he arrives as a seasoned red-ball player, unlike most debutants who are usually selected as young prospects.
Meanwhile, the two-match Test series will be part of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 cycle. The Asian giants are currently fifth in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) standings, with four wins, four losses and one draw from nine matches. Ravindra Jadeja makes comeback

Off-spinner Saransh Jain has earned his maiden call-up to India’s Test squad for the two-match series against Sri Lanka next month. The two Tests will be played in Galle (August 15-19) and Colombo (August 23-27). Saransh, 33, has claimed 188 wickets in 54 First-Class appearances.
