Kieron Pollard breaks Chris Gayle's record in T20 cricket
Dallas: Windies cricketer Kieron Pollard, who has achieved several milestones in T20 cricket, has now reached another landmark. Pollard has set a world record by breaking a record previously held by former West Indies batter Chris Gayle.
Playing for MI New York in the Major League Cricket, Kieron Pollard smashed a brilliant century. Facing 56 balls, Pollard scored a full hundred runs with the help of 4 sixes.
With this, Kieron Pollard climbed to the top spot on the list of highest run-scorers in T20 cricket. Chris Gayle, who previously held the top position, has now been pushed to the second spot.
Kieron Pollard has scored 14,582 runs from 736 T20 matches, which includes two centuries and 67 half-centuries. Meanwhile, Chris Gayle had scored 14,562 runs from 463 matches, smashing 22 centuries. India's Virat Kohli is in sixth place with 14,218 runs.
Batting first in the match held at Dallas, the Washington Freedom team scored 245 runs in 20 overs. However, MI New York could manage only 215 runs, resulting in Pollard's century going in vain.
