Thomas Tuchel could be sacked after leading England to the semi-finals of the World Cup. The Three Lions had one foot in the final against Spain, after Anthony Gordon put them in the lead after 55 minutes. But from that point on, England retreated and allowed Lionel Messi and co to attack at will, with the 39-year-old providing two late assists to break English hearts.

Tuchel, who signed a two-year contract extension in February that sees him through to Euro 2028, is facing significant backlash for his tactics. Many felt that England could have carried on playing as they were, rather than conceding possession and territory to their opponents, with goals from Enzo Fernandez and Lautaro Martinez deemed inevitable.

Asked directly as to whether he'd be staying on after the World Cup, Tuchel said: "We keep on going with the contract until the home Euros.

"I'm looking forward to that even though right now it's difficult to look that far ahead."
