RR pacer Brijesh Sharma set to make his first-class debut for J&K this domestic season
MUMBAI: Fast bowler Brijesh Sharma , who attracted attention when he made an impressive debut for Rajasthan Royals in IPL-2026 earlier this year, is set to make his first-class debut for Jammu and Kashmir in the 2026-27 domestic season.
Brijesh took 14 wickets in 13 matches@32.14 at an economy rate of 9.89 for RR this season.
The 27-year-old pacer from Udhampur played for the Jammu & Kashmir Under-19 and Under-22 teams before moving to Delhi to train under coach Deepak Punia . His impressive performances for Smashers Malda in the 2025 Bengal Pro T20 League, where he claimed 11 wickets in seven matches, saw the Royals purchase him for Rs 30 lakhs.
Meanwhile, two members of the Jammu & Kashmir team’s support staff-bowling coach P Krishna Kumar and fielding coach Dishant Yagnik and Puneet Bisht have moved to the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.
Following this, the JKCA appointed wicketkeeper-batter Puneet Bisht as the team’s fielding coach, while the search for a new bowling coach is still on.
Guided by head coach Ajay Sharma and captain Paras Dogra, who will turn out for another first class season at 41, the Jammu & Kashmir is gearing up for its first-ever Irani Cup clash from Oct 1-5 in Srinagar, before it looks to defend the Ranji Trophy title, as it launches into the domestic season.
