Antoine Dupont is considered by many to be the finest rugby player on the planet. With 11 major honours for club and country - including an Olympic gold medal - the Toulouse scrum-half has become not only a major sporting figure, but a prominent name in French society as well.

The 29-year-old has secured lucrative commercial deals with brands including Adidas, Peugeot, Volvic and Tissot, while continuing to excel on the rugby pitch. The France skipper guided his nation to triumph in their opening Six Nations fixture last week with a 36-14 win over Ireland following an injury-plagued 2025.

The reigning Six Nations champions' next challenge is a visit to the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff as they face Wales on Sunday. Beyond his sporting prowess, we explore Dupont's life off the pitch and the conversation he once engaged in regarding his relationship status.

Dupont's emergence as the face of rugby and a leading figure in French sport has seen him feature prominently in his homeland's high society, regularly mixing with fellow sporting legends such as football icon Zinedine Zidane and current Ballon d'Or winner Ousmane Dembele.

He's been seen at high-profile events including Paris Fashion Week and the Cannes Film Festival. Last year, he signed an agreement with luxury conglomerate LVMH (Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy) to become a house ambassador for the 'French Pavilion'.

At the World Expo, he represented France alongside actresses Sophie Marceau and Lea Seydoux, both of whom achieved worldwide recognition for their roles as Bond girls in the James Bond films. Marceau portrayed Elektra King in The World Is Not Enough, whilst Seydoux appeared as Madeleine Swann in Spectre and No Time to Die.

Beyond his stellar rugby achievements, Dupont - who is currently in a relationship with Miss France and Miss Universe winner Iris Mittenaere - has leveraged his prominent position to highlight the challenges facing LGBTQ+ athletes within his sport.

During a previous interview on the French programme "Les Rencontres du Papotins," Dupont discussed the difficulties players might encounter if they choose to come out. He said: "It's very slow" before adding: "We, for example, in professional rugby, have only one player who has come out. While I think that, statistically, there must still be others."

When asked about his personal life - before he began dating Mittenaere - the Frenchman displayed his characteristic wit, responding: "I don't have children. I don't have a girlfriend, because that's life (smiles). I don't have a boyfriend either." Dupont has not hesitated to show his support for the LGBTQ+ community, having previously graced the front cover of Tetu - an LGBTQ+ magazine.

His mother confessed that she "loved" the cover but expressed concern about potential backlash her son might face. "I'm proud of him, but I'm afraid he'll put himself in danger," she said. "That he'll be attacked by homophobic, racist people. I think he's very courageous to take a stand and be a bit of a spearhead because in rugby, there aren't many people who speak out."
