The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 concluded in spectacular fashion as the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) emerged victorious, claiming their third title. The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) finished as the runners-up, adding another remarkable chapter to their IPL journey. KKR secured a significant prize of INR 20 crore for their triumph, while SRH took home INR 12.5 crore. The total prize pool for the season was INR 46.5 crore, which was distributed among various winning categories beyond just the champions and runners-up.
The Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), who finished third and fourth in the standings, were also rewarded for their performances. Sanju Samson’s Rajasthan Royals received INR 7 crore, and Faf du Plessis’ Royal Challengers Bangalore were awarded INR 6.5 crore.
Virat Kohli of RCB claimed the Orange Cap , awarded to the season's highest run-scorer, while the Purple Cap for the top wicket-taker went to Harshal Patel of the Punjab Kings. Both players received prize money of INR 10 lakh for their stellar contributions. Kohli amassed 741 runs in 15 matches, boasting an impressive average of 61.75, including a century and five fifties, with a top score of 113* and a strike rate of 154.69—his highest ever in a single IPL season. Harshal Patel excelled with 24 wickets in 14 matches, maintaining an economy rate of 9.73 and an average of 19.87.
SRH’s Nitish Kumar Reddy was named the Emerging Player of the Season for his outstanding all-round performance, while KKR's seasoned player Sunil Narine earned the Most Valuable Player of the Year accolade.
