Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei has sought to clarify his company’s stance amid the growing industry debate over open-weight AI models. In a blog post, Amodei said that Anthropic has “never advocated for a ban on open-weights models,” countering criticism that the firm is trying to exert excessive control over the future of artificial intelligence. His comments follow a coalition letter signed last week by Nvidia, Microsoft, Meta, Palantir and others, urging policymakers to avoid “premature restrictions” on open-weight models.
