Apple Releases Stable iOS 18 and iPadOS 18: New Features, Eligible Devices, and More
One week after unveiling the iPhone 16 series at its "It’s Glowtime" event, Apple has officially released the first stable version of iOS 18 for over 25 iPhone models and iPadOS 18 for more than 10 iPad models. Initially revealed at WWDC 2024, these software updates introduce advanced customization options and Apple Intelligence features to select devices.
Older models, including the iPhone SE 2nd Gen and the iPhone XS/XR, are eligible for the iOS 18 update, while iPadOS 18 can be installed on devices as old as the 7th generation iPad.
However, the feature availability will differ based on the device, with the AI-driven Apple Intelligence set to launch on iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 16 series, and iPads equipped with M-series chips in a future iOS 18.1 update.
iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 bring new personalization features, allowing users to customize their iPhone and iPad interfaces with options like app icon color changes based on wallpaper, flexible app icon placement on the home screen, and customizable quick settings and control centers.
Although these updates were previously available for developers and early adopters, this stable release is now available to all users. To install, users need to back up their data and ensure their devices are fully charged.
