Newspoint
Home security cameras have become one of the fastest-growing smart home categories in India. Falling prices, better internet connectivity and the growing need to monitor homes, offices and shops remotely have encouraged more people to install security cameras. While established brands dominate the premium segment, Indian networking and surveillance company Consistent is trying to make a mark by offering feature-rich security cameras at affordable prices.

One such product is the Consistent 3MP Smart Wi-Fi Bullet Camera CEYE Series (CT-CM-BW3M). Priced at Rs 2,699, it promises features usually seen in more expensive cameras on paper. These include 3MP Full HD recording, all-time colour night vision, IP66 weather resistance, human detection, two-way audio, Alexa support, cloud recording and up to 256GB microSD card support. We spent time using the camera in a real environment to see whether it delivers on those promises and whether it is worth considering for homeowners and small businesses looking for an affordable outdoor security solution.

Performance and setup

Setting up the Consistent 3MP Smart Wi-Fi Bullet Camera turned out to be much simpler than we expected. Since it is a Wi-Fi camera, we did not have to deal with long network cables running across the house. After mounting the camera, we only needed to connect it to a power source. Pairing it with the CEYE mobile app took just a few minutes. The app guided us through the setup process step by step, including scanning the QR code on the camera and connecting it to our 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network.

Once connected, the camera appeared almost instantly inside the app. We were able to access the live feed, change settings and check recordings without any complicated configuration. The CEYE app has a clean interface and is easy enough for first-time users to understand. It also supports PC monitoring, allowing us to check the camera feed from a larger screen whenever required.

Security features that matter in daily use

For a security camera priced at Rs 2,699, the feature list is surprisingly comprehensive. During our testing, the 3MP resolution produced sharp footage during the day, making it easy to identify people, vehicles and packages outside the house. One feature we particularly liked was the All Time Color Technology, which records colour footage even in low-light conditions. Instead of switching to grainy black-and-white footage at night, the camera was able to retain colour in areas with some ambient lighting, making recordings more useful.

The Smart Human Detection feature also worked well. Instead of sending alerts for every movement caused by trees or passing animals, the camera mostly notified us only when it detected a person. This reduced unnecessary notifications and made the alerts much more useful. Motion and human detection alerts reached our phone within a few seconds through the CEYE app.

The two-way audio feature proved handy as well. The built-in microphone and speaker allowed us to speak with visitors and deliver people without opening the door. Voice quality was clear enough for short conversations, although it is not designed to replace an intercom.

We also appreciated the flexibility in storage options. Users can record footage locally using a microSD card of up to 256GB or choose cloud recording for remote backup. The combination gives users the freedom to pick the storage option that best fits their needs.

The camera also comes with an IP66 weatherproof rating, which means it is built to withstand rain, dust and harsh outdoor conditions. During our usage, the camera continued to function normally despite exposure to changing weather. Features such as 10x digital zoom, real-time motion alerts, mobile and PC monitoring, and Alexa compatibility further add to its value, making it a capable outdoor security solution for homes, small offices and shops.

Verdict

The Consistent 3MP Smart Wi-Fi Bullet Camera CEYE Series strikes a good balance between features and affordability. At Rs 2,699, it offers several capabilities that are usually found on more expensive outdoor security cameras. During our time with the device, we found the installation process straightforward, the CEYE app easy to use, and the day-to-day experience largely hassle-free. Features like 3MP video recording, colour night vision, human detection, two-way audio and IP66 weather resistance make it a practical choice for monitoring homes, offices, shops or parking areas.
