Critical alert issued to Chrome users, with millions urged to restart browsers now
Google has just confirmed the release of a major Chrome update and anyone using this hugely popular software would be wise to install it without delay. This isn't something anyone should ignore, as it fixes a whopping 433 security issues. Although none have been given the dreaded zero-day rating - which basically means exploits are already taking place in the wild - a number have been deemed critical.
"Google rates them as Critical severity because they could allow an attacker to run arbitrary code outside the browser's sandbox, which makes it the highest tier on its rating scale," the security team at Malwarebytes explains.
Vulnerabilities that allow an attacker to escape the sandbox can impact the whole device and wider system, which is why it's so urgent that users head to their settings, install the latest software and restart Chrome.
Once that's done, all issues will be fixed, and safe web browsing can resume.
