India ranks second globally in AI energy savings, Samsung study
Indian consumers have emerged as some of the most energy-conscious individuals on the planet, ranking second globally in electricity savings through the use of artificial intelligence (AI), a study by tech giant Samsung has revealed. The internal study shows that households across India are rapidly adopting smart, AI-powered home appliances to make more sustainable lifestyle choices and lower their monthly electricity bills.

Samsung says that the findings are based on data from consumers using Samsung’s modern “Bespoke AI” appliance lineup, which features a specialized tool called SmartThings AI Energy Mode .
How Samsung AI cuts down electricity bill
SmartThings is a connected smart-home ecosystem that lets users control all their home appliances through a single smartphone app. When users turn on the built-in AI Energy Mode, the system uses advanced algorithms to study the family’s daily habits and automatically tweak how appliances run to save power.
Second is smart optimisation wherein instead of running at full blast all day, the AI actively analyses daily usage patterns, dialing back power usage when it isn't needed without disrupting household convenience.
In addition to automatically lowering power consumption, the integrated system allows users to track their actual electricity consumption in real time right from their smartphones.
As India grapples with increasing power demands fueled by intense heatwaves, the adoption of smart energy management is shifting from a green trend to a necessity.
Samsung noted that the AI software offers a highly practical solution to curb household electricity usage, particularly during the grueling peak summer and humid monsoon seasons when air conditioners and refrigerators normally work overtime.
