MRM Portal Launched: Here's How Cyber Fraud Victims Can Get Their Money Back
In a major step to help victims of cyber fraud, the Government of India has launched a new online system that makes it easier to recover money frozen during cybercrime investigations. The new Money Restoration Module (MRM) has been introduced under the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCRP) by the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), Ministry of Home Affairs.
According to STF Senior Superintendent of Police Ajay Singh, the portal has been designed to provide faster and more transparent relief to people who have lost money in cyber fraud cases. Victims no longer need to visit multiple offices or authorities to get their funds back. The entire refund request process can now be completed online.

- Have received a 14-digit Registered Acknowledgement Number.
- Have funds that were frozen in the bank accounts of cybercriminals during the investigation.
How to Apply for a Refund
Victims can submit their refund request by following these steps: - Visit the MRM portal .
- Log in using the mobile number linked to the NCRP complaint and verify through OTP.
- Enter the 14-digit Complaint ID and complete OTP verification.
- The portal will automatically display the amount that has been held.
- Upload your PAN card details.
- Provide the bank account number and IFSC code where the refund should be credited.
- Accept the declaration and submit the application.
